Hi there,
I'm quite new to jira and I'm trying to grant a user jira system admin access. I've read multiple posts but I seem to be missing something. So far I've
1. Created jira-system administrator group
2. Assigned group to user and removed them from the administration group
3. Granted product and administration access and global permissions to the group
The user has no system administration access, would anyone know what I am missing
I think you may be confused Server with Cloud, and you've tried to follow docs for system administrators for Server instead of Cloud.
The equivalent doc for Cloud is a lot shorter - it should read "You do not get system administration rights on Cloud, this is reserved for Atlassian support"

Hi Alex, welcome to the Community. First, make sure this is something you really want/need to do. Too many cooks in the kitchen sort of thing. That aside, you should navigate to settings > User management and find the user then select show details. If you want them to have Site Admin access there is a drop down you can select and change to Site admin. If you want some other access then simply add them to the appropriate group, like jira-administrators, etc.

Hi Jack, thanks for the quick response.
I definitely don't want to grant this user site admin access. I've given them access to the specific group but I don't think access within the group is working correctly.
What are the steps to take to make sure the group does have admin privileges
