How to get email notification from JIRA Cloud version

Marker Wong March 15, 2020

Currently I am using JIRA Cloud version free license
I checked the email notification on JIRA that I should able to get email. But when I test with create/close ticket, I cannot receive email from my registry email. Is that email notification also support on free license?

I checked junk box from my registry email but cannot find any JIRA related mail. I can successfully get verification email by this email account. How can I troubleshoot on it?

Hello Marker,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

When using Jira Cloud, by default, users don't receive notifications of their own changes.

With that said, if you create a ticket where you are the reporter and the assignee, for example, or you are just the reporter and no one is added as assignee, you won't receive any notifications when you add a comment or change the ticket status.

If you add someone else as the assignee and this user adds a comment you should receive a notification.

It's also important to make sure you are a watcher of the ticket.

If you have any other questions regarding this matter, please let us know.

Regards,
Angélica

Hi Angélica,

Thank you for your reply. I just found it last night.

Is that possible to change the global config for all users to receive own changes by email. I saw individual use can change this config from the profile but I want to know is that able to change globally by the admin. Just a question to understand more.

Thanks,

Marker

Hi Marker,

It's possible to set this configuration for everyone, but they will also have the ability to disable on their profile.

Go to Jira settings > System > Default user preferences > Edit default values.

Then, select Notify users of their own changes and Autowatch own issues and Save.

Angélica
