Ive read in another question that i need to make a copy, then work on the inactive one.
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Why-can-t-I-make-changes-on-my-DRAFT-workflow/qaq-p/782670
Then make a new scheme, then link that to the project.
Is this really the only way?!
That means if it doesnt work, then i need to wait another 30-45 mins since the projects in question are pretty massive.
Associating thousands of issues.
How can i do this and test it first?!
Hi RJ,
If you have a sandbox environment then you can test it there.
But it might be that your changes are not that drastic. What exactly are you needing to do?
Also you don’t need to create a whole new scheme. You can just update the existing scheme to add your new workflow (the one in the inactive state). When you pull it in just match it to the same issue types that your current workflow uses.
The next step will be to transition any issues in a current status that you are taking out/deleting. Do NOT check any box for applying to all statuses or anything like that.
If you are just adding a status or changing the existing transitions between statuses, then the risk is very low.
You also have the option to make a backup of the existing workflow scheme if you like before publishing the new one.
