How to find a comment in a JIRA Cloud backup ?

Layat Fabien February 27, 2025

Hello,

I have a backup of my Jira Cloud instance that I did with the System Backup Manager.

I have this tree file :

- data folder

- logos folder

-activeobjectrs.xml file

- entities.xml file

I'm looking for a comment that have been deleted, I've found the wanted associated ticket in the data folder, under

data\attachments\A2162\10000\A2162-326

But actually I can't explore these files to find the mentionned comment.

How to exploit them ? Without backing up the all jira instance ?

Thank you for your help

Hey Layat,

You may spin up a new trial site and restore your backup there to get the required data. That's the standard process to retrieve data from backups.

Reference: Import backup data into Jira Cloud

Thanks,

Karan
