System Item has a field called Release Committed Status. I want to display Epics assigned to me and see what is the value of the RCS field from System Item that is few levels above the epic.

Structure goes like this from top to bottom:

Customer Feature
System Item
Entity Item
Competence Area
Epic

Hi @asdihb1298

welcome to the community. I'm not a aware of a solution that would do exactly as you require, but I can think of a couple of ways forward.

  • You could probably use Jira Automation to "propagate" the field value from the parent down to its children (i.e., write them into a separate custom field on the children), and then use the respective custom field on the children to view the value. Obviously, this will add some complexity to your system.
  • Alternatively, there are a number of ways in Jira to view your issues in their hierarchy, so that you can easily see the parent's values along with the children's values. Advanced Roadmaps is Jira's standard view for this (I assume you already use this to model your hierarchy?), but there are also several hierarchy-related apps on the Marketplace that may give you even more flexibility.

Hope this helps,

Best,

Hannes
