How to delete inactive user from a Jira group.

warecm43 January 30, 2025

We use Active Directory groups to control our user license count.  When the user no longer requires access, we remove from the AD Group and the account becomes inactive in Jira.  Now I'm trying to remove the user from Jira Groups they were in, but can't find a way to do this.  When I'm in the Groups area and find the group, the "Users" column shows a count of '5', but when I click on the '5' link it displays 6 accounts, one being the disabled user with a line thorough the name.  If I click on 'Edit Members', only the active users show up in the list of available users to remove.

We need to remove this user, as members of this particular group get system generated emails, which he no longer has a need for.

What is the process to removing inactive users from Jira groups?

I figured it out. I can go to Edit user groups.  I'm then able to remove them from the groups they are part of.  The screen was just a little confusing as it doesn't display the userID that is being modified as a sanity check.
