How to create new Projects and Issues and have them applied to an existing Structure

Boris Krutiy January 18, 2024

Hi Community,

I have Structure addon in my Jira Cloud. I created a Structure that is Portfolio >> Programs >> Project. I am still a novice with Jira so I am not seeing an easy way to apply new Projects and other Issues (User Stories, Epics, Tasks, etc.) and have them applied within the structure.

For example, my structure is as follows:

- Portfolio

    - Program1

       - Project1.1

    - Program2

       - Project2.1

       - Project2.2

...and so on.

I need the ability to allow users to easily create Projects within the appropriate Programs and other issue types within the appropriate Projects. Is there an easy way to do this?

Hi @Boris Krutiy

You will have to create a Jira project that has all the schemes for screens, workflows, issue types, etc. which is not a working project but it's used as a template.

Then when you create new projects, you can use a "Shared configuration" and select the template project.  That way it will keep the key configurations.

To have issues populated, you will have to do a bulk import.

I hope this helps.
