How to create custom report about issues?

Dmytro January 19, 2022

Hello Everyone!

I'm searching way how to create custom report. This report can be generated within Jira or be external (spreadsheet?) if it is not possible to create within Jira (for whatever reason).

Closed Task Data/Metrics Report

  • Support specification of start and end date for the reporting period (Sprint?)
  • Report data on a per user (assignee)
  • Report for each task closed in the reporting field
  • Number of days the task was 'In Progress'
  • Number of days the task was waiting for review / merge
  • Task Priority
  • Task Type
  • Task Reporter
  • Task type: Task/Story/Bug
  • Count of tasks by Type
  • Count of tasks by Priority
  • Average number of days a task was 'In Progress'
  • Average number of days a task was waiting for review / merge

Hi @Dmytro

While some aspects can be obtained with built-in Jira report gadgets, I suspect the averages can not.

Some other vendors already mentioned their solutions, so I will just chip in with an example from the eazyBI demo account - https://eazybi.com/accounts/1000/dashboards/4553-jira-issues. That is an eazyBI dashboard (that you could publish in a Jira dashboard) with two reports I want to highlight:

  • List of issues in progress - can give you a list of issues and represent their data.
  • Unresolved issues by priority - overview of unresolved issues by priority

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Best,

Hi @Dmytro

Welcome to the community !!

If you are fine with a third party app, for a complete solution to track time spent on each issue or time between statuses or time spent by resources, you can try out our add-on. You can track the progress of your project issues and their hierarchies. Also you can create dashboard gadgets for each report type.

Agile Tools : Epic Tree, Links Tree, Time in Status & Worklogs

The app provides the following features.

1) Time in Status :- Multiple Time in Status reports to track your issues. These reports cover all your requirements which you listed above.

2) Epic Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up of time estimates for standard Jira hierarchy. Epic -> User Story -> Subtask

3) Links/Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up of time estimates for hierarchy (up to 10 levels), based on your Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps/Issue Links parent child relationship.

5) Worklogs Report :- Track time spent by resources with multiple filters / category / grouping features

6) Timesheet :- View/Enter your time spent for multiple days

Hi @Dmytro , welcome to the Community!

There is a good solution for your request - Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It provides reports on how much time passed in each status. It has different views such as list, average, median and sum.

In list view you can get a report of "number of days the task was in each status" in addition to the Jira fields like task priority, task type, task reporter etc.

In average view, you can get average number of days the tasks were In Progress/Waiting for Review-Merge. Further, you can group tasks by any field and get reports like "average number of days by type/priority" along with "count of tasks by type/priority".

Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. Hope it helps.
