I need to create an automation that is triggered when an issue in the LPR project links to an issue in the ENG project. I need to update the custom field "LPR Change Issue Type" in the ENG project with the value of the Issue Type of the LPR issue that is being linked.

Hi @Shelly Knobbe

What have you tried thus far to solve this need?

If you have started a rule and have run into problems, please post an image of your complete automation rule, images of any relevant actions / conditions / branches, an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution, and explain what is not working as expected.  Those will provide context for the community to offer ideas.  Thanks!

If you have not started a rule, you could create a global (or multiple-project) scope rule, triggered on Issue Linked, and check the project smart values with conditions to confirm the issues starting the rule, then edit the custom field to copy the issue type.  Your Jira Site Admin will need to help as only they can create global / multiple-project scope rules.

To get you started on creating your rule, please refer to these documentation and example sources:

Kind regards,
Bill
