Hi Community,
I have joined a new team and I wanted to analyse teams last 6 months Individual Capacity and Velocity including individual point spill overs sprint by sprint.
In JIRA report there is no such tool, i tried via dash board options as well but unable to get the right details. I think this is one of the most basic requirement of any scrum master to check for the same. But unfortunately unable to find any option inside JIRA board.
If anyone has any idea or maybe i am unaware of some ways to do this, it will really helpful if you can share your thoughts here.
Thanking you in advance !!
Hi @Mohit Goel -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community.
By "capacity" do you mean the available work capacity for a team during a given sprint? If so, you are correct that Jira has no built-in features for capacity analysis for teams. When this is needed, consider performing this analysis outside of Jira during sprint planning, or investigate marketplace addons.
And, what problem are you trying to solve by doing this analysis? I am puzzled by your question about performing analysis for individual team members, as teams using Scrum work together to deliver value. When such individual measurement is needed please consider if Scrum is a good fit or if another delivery framework would be better. Thanks!
Kind regards,
Bill
Hi Bill,
Thanks for your time to reply.
Understand that capacity analysis is not in JIRA.
But more important for me is to have tool which gives us the summary of individual estimated points sprint by sprint (Like we can do it in excel) as well as points spill over sprint by sprint.
As mentioned, I joined a new team and I wanted to understand individual team members last 6 months capacity and also wanted to calculate the team velocity.
It's easy to do this on excel but as JIRA is the main platform to run scrum process, wondering how come it doesn't give us this report. Which i feel the most basic feature any scrum master would appreciate.
Thanks

Thanks for that information, @Mohit Goel
Team velocity is easily seen with the built in reports with Jira. As I noted, there is nothing built in to measure capacity for a team to support sprint planning. Here is a suggestion to add that feature, which you may watch/vote for to see progress: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-5774
Again, measuring individual people's velocity does not help scrum teams work as a group to deliver value. Please investigate other practices if you feel you have a need to measure individual people's velocity.
