We have a status of "No Longer Needed" that we would like to change to a final closed status that functions like Closed and Done.
I'm an admin on the project, but cannot see how to change the status on "No Longer Needed." The only options for me when I right click on the status in the Workflow view are "Allow all statuses to transition to this one" (which is checked), and "Remove Status."
I reached out to our Jira help desk and they sent me a link to a wiki full of information, but did not help me with my specific question.
Is there a way to change "No Longer Needed" to be a closed state?
Welcome to the community.
Do you mean the status category (green color) is shown as Done? If yes, go to Settings -> Issues -> Statuses and find "No Longer Needed" and edit it. It is also possible to do this in workflow diagram mode after clicking the status.
But, changing the category does not mean issue is closed/resolved. You have to make sure that resolution field is set before coming it.
I only see Project Settings and the only "Issues" I see in there is inside of the "Issue Type" section.
I cannot change the status in the workflow. I shared what I see when I click on No Longer Needed in the workflow view. Here is a picture.

You need to go to settings -> issues -> status, as Tanshu said before.
You will need to be an administrator to do this though.

Again, I don't see settings. I see Project Settings and under Issues, I get the exact screen as I've shown you above. If there is a different set of "Settings" I should be looking for, please be specific. Also, as stated in my original post, I am an Administrator on the project, so I do not know why I cannot complete this function.

Only Jira or System administrators can make global changes (like editing worklows and changing the status list). Project admins can only administrate the projects they are set up for.

Thank you so much! Our Jira Help Desk provided me with erroneous information. Your comments helped me in my discussion with them and they were able to understand their error.
