How to capture timestamp between to statuses

Is there a way in Jira though which we can capture the timestamp between two statuses?

OR I want to capture the time taken in a particular status

Open->In-Progress->Done

I want to capture the time , the issue was in Open state.

When I change the transition from Open to In-Progress, time will get displayed.How we can achieve this is JIRA.

You can also use

Time in status custom field type
