How to automate jira status updates based on SDLC progress

We have a large team where jira is implemented for project management and task planning.

Big challenge is lack of discipline within the team to ensure the status in Jira is updated correctly.

We use bitbucket and azure dev ops for vode checkin. Confluence for documentation.

Is there any automation possible on status changes whenever hld, codind is completed based on pr merged etc.

Yes, that is possible.

Please review this information about connecting your source control / pipeline tools to Jira and then using automation rules with the development triggers to transition the issues:

If your source control tools are not supported, you could use the Incoming Webhook Trigger with your tooling to provide the connections.
