How to add external people to view a specific board and nothing else?

I have a company where we have managed services for different clients and each one needs both the clients and their account managers from their suppliers to access the boards we have for them in Jira.

I don't want them to be added as users as this uses a licence but I also don't want the details of the boards to be accessible by anyone who is not permitted as the boards contain confidential information of the clients. Each client should only be able to see their own board and not have access to anything else.

I have tried to go through the documentation to amend permissions etc but I still can't seem to give access to the right people to just one project board.

Any ideas of how I can do this, I have a standard paid for subscription so not the free version.

Hello @Genine Johnson

As @Jack Brickey says, you can use spreadsheet to pull data, there is a Jira addon that allow you to do this and refresh the data periodically.

Hi Genine, welcome to the Community.

Unfortunately, to be able to view boards/dashboards you must have a license. Jira doesn't have the concept of a free (or even reduced cost) read-only license. There are alternatives you can consider. Such as,

Free: use screenshots or use Excel to pull data and produce charts and post them to a public webpage or file system. The good - it is free, the bad - it is static and requires manual effort.

Non-free: check the marketplace for possible addons. though in the end it may not be cheaper than just giving the needed individuals licenses. Example, say you have 150 users and the addon is $0.25/user/mo that is $37.50/mo so if you have <=5 users to give access then it would be cheaper by $2.50/mo to go that route. :-)
