My Atlassian account (work mail) got permanently deleted due to inactivity and now I'm unable to log in/access JIRA. While trying to sign up, it shows that my mail id is associated with an account. However, when I try to reset the password/log in, I'm getting the message that my account was deleted permanently.

Hello @Lekshmisree S B

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Who submitted the request to permanently delete the account? From what I have read, Atlassian does not automatically delete user accounts due to inactivity.

There is a 14 day grace period after an account deletion request is submitted during which the cancellation request can be revoked.

How long ago was the request submitted?

If the creation of your account and the deletion request were managed by your company,  then escalate this issue to your company's technical support team.

If the grace period has expired your account deletion may still be in progress in the Atlassian backend. As I recall, it can take an extended period of time for the account to actually be deleted after the grace period. Your account may currently be in the limbo state where the grace period has expired and the account has been marked for permanent deletion but the deletion has not actually happened yet.

After the deletion actually happens, the account can be recreated with the same email as before, but all association of the account to activity and permissions will already have been revoked. Permission have to be re-granted, and the association to previous activity cannot be restored.

@Lekshmisree S B

If your work Atlassian account was deleted due to inactivity and is permanently deleted, it cannot be restored by yourself. You need to reach out to Atlassian support or your organization's admin for further assistance in gaining access to Jira or setting up a new account linked to your work email.

Thanks

Hi @Lekshmisree S B , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your post.

Is there anyone in your company you can contact, who is an organization admin / in charge of your Jira site, in order to verify what they are seeing?

You are saying your Atlassian ID, so your work email, was deleted due to inactivity?

If this is the case, Atlassian will likely need to intervene to help you but this will need to be managed through the Jira site you are trying to access.

What can happen is that you had a Jira free site, which you didn't use for a while, and that got deleted due to inactivity, and when you try to login with your Atlassian ID for work, that you don't have access to any other Jira sites.

Please can you reach out to an IT support person inside of your company first to ask for help?

Best wishes
