How many fields can you pin in Jira?

I have pinned some fields but I'd like to know what the limit is, to make sure I have the most important ones to me present.

The number of fields you can pin in Jira is limited by the amount of space each field's ID stores. This limit is 255 characters.

The number of fields a user can pin depends on the length of the custom field IDs they pin.
For example, one user might be able to pin 7 fields, while another user might be able to pin 11 fields.

Is this a setting per project in Jira as I can see it set to 15 in one project but another project that has recently been setup seems restricted to 10 fields. Is this a standard Jira setting, or can I configure it myself?

Hi @angela.williams - I just did a test and I was able to pin "17 fields" for one project and after that I was getting the below - 

So 15 might not be the number and the number of fields you can pin per project per user is unclear.
