Hello,
In mi Jira software space there is a tab that says Assets, inside there is an option that says Connect assets project. When I click it, only one of my 4 service management projects shows up. After I connect it its like a fish eye to a service management space.
I do not know what it makes this service management space different from the other ones to appear there. I have tried adding assets fields to other service management spaces and it does not show up there. Also there is zero documentation on the subject. Anyone can clarify what makes it a space special so that it shows up there?
The Connect assets project option only shows Jira Service Management projects that have an Assets object schema linked and the schema is set to Used in the project.
That is why only one of your four service projects appears. The other three likely do not have an Assets schema connected yet.
Here is what makes a service project show up in that dropdown:
1. The project has Jira Service Management with the Assets feature enabled
2. You created at least one object schema in Assets
3. In Assets then Configuration then Object schema configuration, you assigned the schema to that service project under Used in
Just adding an Assets field to the request type is not enough. The schema has to be mapped to the project itself.
To fix it for your other projects:
1. Go to Jira Service Management then Assets
2. Pick the object schema you want to use
3. Click the three dots then Object schema configuration
4. Under Used in, add the other service projects
5. Go back to your Jira Software project and click Connect assets project again. The other projects should now appear.
After you connect it, the Assets tab in the software project is basically a filtered view into that service project schema. It is not fish eye. It just reads from the same schema so your devs can see which asset is tied to a bug or feature.
The documentation gap is real. Atlassian has not published much on this link yet. The key setting is that Used in mapping in Assets.
Hope that clears it up. If you cannot see the Object schema configuration option. That usually means you need Jira admins or Asset admins permission.
Hi @Lara Lopez Garcia ,
Only JSM projects with an Object Schema already created appear in the "Connect assets project" dropdown. The other 3 projects are missing one.
Fix
For each missing JSM project:
Go to Assets (top nav) → Object Schemas → Create a new schema (or use a template)
In the JSM project → Project Settings → Assets → link that schema
Add an Assets Object custom field to the project's screens
Once a schema exists on a JSM project, it'll show up in the Jira Software connector.
If you're still having any issues, please get in touch with us.
