How do i retrict Epic link in story tickets?

I would like to have EPIC LINK field only when TYPE(issue type) is EPIC,

When TYPE(issue type) is Story i would like to disable or hide it. Is that possible.

Please give me your suggestion on this.

What problem are you trying to solve?

The "Epic Link" field is used to record the issue key for the Epic that is the parent of the current issue.

Jira doesn't support an Epic being a parent of another Epic. Epics can be parents only of the issues at the standard issue level, like Stories, Bugs, and Tasks.

It doesn't make sense for the Epic Link field to be available in Epic issues.

Yes it's possible you need to put this field in the screen use by the EPIC and not in the screen use by the Story issue type.
