I cannot figure out how to properly use priorities under the Project Settings tab. I cannot find where I can set the priority of issues. What would be the best practice for using the priorities feature of JIRA?
You can add the Priority field on the Create and Edit screen of the issues. Whenever anyone is raising a bug or adding a new task, they can define the priority of that issue. Based on this, you can prioritize your backlog and have work assigned to users in a defined prioritized way.
From the administration, you can add more priorities, followed by creating a priority scheme and associating it to your projects. This helps, in having different types of priorities for different types of projects. Some might have High, Medium, Low while others might have Blocker, Major and Minor.
