Hi,
I has been asked to create dashboards for a couple of projects. I was given a dashboard as example and many of the components are fed through shared filters. I'm fine thus far, but to be able to duplicate the dashboard, I also need to copy the filter, and change it to reflect some changes I need to do. So my question is at this point, how can I show the contents of someone else's filter? I was hoping I could supply the name in the same manner as when creating the JQL and saving the filter, but found no way to do so...
Thanks
Hi @[deleted],
In order to create another dashboard and add gadgets to it with modified JQL filters (based on the original JQL filters), you may want to review and perform the following steps (see below) after fully understanding the limitations.
Please note that ONLY "Save" option exists if you want to modify the existing Filter with the same name. If you want to use the original filter and then modify it to do what you want to do, then it is better to save it using "Save As" option and give the filter a different name so that the original filter is preserved as it is.
1. Take the queries from the "original JQL filter", make the needed edits and run it in IssueNavigator
2. Verify the results and make sure that they look good.
3. Save it as a new JQL filter with a different filter name using the 'Save As' option
4. Provide appropriate permissions to the filter to share them with the right group
5. Repeat this process with all appropriate filters that will be used in the dashboard.
6. Then create a brand new dashboard (second dashboard) and start adding gadgets to the new dashboard using the new JQL filters that have been saved.
7. Give the right set of permissions to the new Dashboard
Hope this helps in what you are trying to resolve!
Thanks

Hi,
thank you for a near perfect answer! I got it working nicely now. One not som obvious thing was that you have to run the query in order to save it, but again, who wants to save a non-working query?
Thanks, Pontus
