We have some users who are complaining about not getting email notifications from JIRA. Checking their account, the correct email is set, and the email notifications work for other customers.

There is a guide on testing outgoing mail here, but it seems out of date. https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-send-a-test-email-in-jira-317197303.html

How would I go about tracing mail responses when sending outgoing mail? I'd like to check for errors on the receiving mail server and notify out customer of any specific issues.

You will need the mail server logs for sure and since you are on cloud, you will need Atlassian support teams help for that. Another case might be that, the user might have setup rules in their mailbox to move/delete mails from jira :)

Hi Will. That article is an out of date it just simply applies to Jira Server not cloud. Moreover I don’t think you need to send a test email since you already have indicated some customers are receiving the emails.

The first thing I would do is to inspect what’s different about the customer who is receiving email notifications against those that are not. Inspect the users against the notification scheme. If they are both in the same roles/groups defined in the notification scheme then I would expect the emails are being sent. I assume you have discussed with the customers to look at their junk email?
