I originally structured swimlanes based off of epics on one of my jira boards, but I deleted the kanban backlog under settings > columns and now I'm unable to add more epics. How would I go about getting the kanban backlog back? I don't even have the option to drag and drop the backlog box under the kanban backlog when I'm under "columns"
It looks like the Backlog status has been deleted from the workflow. Take a look at the workflow and see if the Backlog status is there. If not, then you need to add it back.
Sure - what type of project is it? That will affect how you update it.
If it is a Company-managed project, go to Settings > Issues > Workflows
Then search for the workflow. Add the Backlog status - and probably move the create transition to go to it instead of the To Do status. Then be sure to add a transition from Backlog to To Do.
Then finally, be sure to publish the workflow.
