Hello,
How do I login to Jira. It makes no sense to me that you have so many places to login but cannot find the product I want.
When I did try to login to Jira for the first time it was trying to get me to download a file.
What the heck is that??? Why is there no warning or explanation?
Thanks,
Oren
Hello @Oren Yehezkely
Did you set up your own new subscription to Jira or are you trying to access a Jira instance that somebody told you to access? You must connect to a specific Jira instance. There is not a generic Jira instance freely available to the public.
Logging in to Jira involves authenticating with your Atlassian Cloud Account. That may be the same account you used to access this Community or another account.
https://id.atlassian.com will take you to the login screen for Atlassian Cloud overall.
You can also start by accessing the Jira instance URL directly which will redirect you to the Atlassian Cloud Login screen if you have not already logged in. The URL for an Jira Cloud instance will look something like this:
https://<someName>.atlassian.net
That may optionally be followed by /jira
What URL did you go to that prompted you to download a file?
Thanks for your reply. I did go to this URL: https://<someName>.atlassian.net and this is exactly what happened in my initial post. You take me through hoops for a long time. Is this a game? I do not have time for that.
Then you download a file to my computer? No explanation and no warning??? What the heck? How do I know it is not a virus if you don't bother saying anything?
Is that how it is supposed to be???

Ok now I went to https://<someName>.atlassian.net/jira here I was not asked to go through hoops. Thank god. But then it is asking me to verify my email address. It sends me an email and I verify but I need to request access. From whom? from myself. Going back to the login screen it does not change so I ask for another email. then I notice that it sent me an email saying that I am asking for access. Ok so I approve access for myself... And then I get to another portal of yours, telling me "You Need Permission" with a big blue lock on top. You don't say...

Hello @Oren Yehezkely
Be advised that when you say "you" (directed at me), in fact I am not doing anything. This is a user community, not direct access to Atlassian support. I am just another user of the Atlassian products trying to help you figure out what is going on in the environment you are attempting to access. I don't have access to your account. I have no idea (without you telling me) what specific Jira site you are trying to access. And I likely don't have access to that Jira instance.
Please consider reviewing the Community Guidelines to gain perspective on appropriate tone for your posts while interacting with the users in this community.
I have additional questions to help me understand the scope of your scenario.
Is this a Jira subscription that you set up for yourself? Or are you trying to access a Jira environment that somebody else set up? If you set it up for yourself then there is some additional options available through the Admin Hub.
If so, are you logging in with the same identity/email that you used when you set up the subscription?
If you are, have you tried the same steps from another browser application or a private browser window? Browser applications can cache identity information so while you may enter one email in the login screen, that may be getting overridden by identity information cached in your browser.
Can you provide full screen images to show us what you are seeing?

I apologize for my tone. I did not realize you are a user and not an employee. Its hard to believe that users need to provide support.
Thank you for your time.
I am really sorry.

Apology accepted. Thank you. :-)
Most of us here are happy to help out other users. We like sharing our knowledge, and we learn more about the product by exploring the questions posted by others.
Your post tags indicate that you are using a Free subscription. If that is the case, one of the limitations of such subscriptions is that you are not able to open a support case with Atlassian. The support portal will direct you to come to the Community for peer support.
