How do I get the Linked Issues section to show permanently in the View screen of issues?

There is a Linked Issues section that shows up in the View screen but only if an internal issue is linked. We often link issues to others that are in an external system. To do this, we click a plus sign by that Linked Issues section in the View Screen and it gives us the option of adding a Web Link. This is not an option when creating or editing an issue where the issue selector only allows you to select existing JIRA issues.

The current workaround is to link an internal JIRA issue at random so the section shows up, add the web link, and then unlink the randomly linked internal issue.

How can we get the Linked Issues section to show permanently so we don't have that odd step in the middle of linking some random internal issue to get it to show up?

Hi @odcsqa

Have you tried clicking More in your view issue page and then selecting Link Issue?

This should normally work like the plus button.

As for making the link issue always show, unfortunately there is no way because by design the field appear only when populated. You could always pre-populate it with a dummy issue via your workflow post function and some script.

Test the other suggestion first and if it doesn’t work for you consider the population of the field on create.
