Hello,
I've added a custom field to my project but I can't figure out how to filter the board by that field's value. Is this supported in Jira Cloud, or do I need to use a saved filter / JQL workaround?
Any guidance would be great, thanks!
Hello @Duong Nguyen Hong
Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Yes, filtering a Jira Cloud board by a custom field value is supported, though the approach depends on your project type.
For a Company-managed project, the most common way to filter your board by a custom field is using Quick Filters:
Go to your board → click Board settings
Select Quick Filters from the left menu
Click Add quick filter
Enter a JQL query referencing your custom field
Give it a name and save
The filter will then appear as a toggle button above your board columns.

If you want the board to always show only issues with a specific custom field value:
Board settings → General
Edit the Saved Filter
Add your custom field condition to the filter's JQL
In case of a Team-managed project, you can add a Custom filter by clicking on the 3 dots on the right side of your Board > Manage custom filters
I hope this helps!
What type of space are you using a Team or Company managed one?
On a Team managed space, use the "Custom filters" option in the board and on a Company managed space, use the "quick filter option in the board.
