How do I exclude columns from search issue (Issues) screen?

We use JIRA for client support. So, clients have JIRA access and can go find their own issues in there.

In the Issues "screen" you can JQL for issues and select the columns you want.

There are fields that I'd like the clients not to see (to the extent possible). I can suppress fields on View, Edit issue et cetera Screens, but I'd like to also not have them available when searching for issues.

So - how to I exclude certain fields/columns from being selectable in the Issues (search issues) area?

EDIT: for some groups, obviously - we should be able to get to those fields internally/ourselves.

Hacks welcome :-)

There's no way to do this.

You can do it all-or-nothing - if you remove the searcher for a custom field, no-one can search, but you can't do it by group or user.
