How do I enter Text Formatting Notation in the Description Field in the NEW Text Renderer.

How do I enter Text Formatting Notation in the Description Field? I want to be able to add notations:

(/) < Checkmark
(off) < Off lightbulb
(on) < On lightbulb. 

I'm able to have my text notation show up when I'm in OLD VIEW, but I can't in the new view.

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The new issue view is still a lab feature on JIRA, so our developers are still working to get some features implemented, including the rendering of Symbols, emojis, and Icons available in the old view.

That been said, here is the suggestion raised to track their progress on its implementation:

- Ability to use symbols, emojis, and special characters in new issue view

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

For now, we suggest you to turn-off the new issue view if you would like to use the Icons, unless you are using a Next-gen project. You can navigate to your Profile picture > Personal settings > Turn-off the new issue view.
