I have created a plan in the Advanced Roadmap feature and want to work with team mates on updating this plan, is this supported?
My colleague sees a blank plan instead of my view, and I have ensured the access rights and permissions are there.

yes, this should be possible (if the appropriate permissions for the plan are set). Are you still experiencing these problems?
