How do I bulk remove epic links from issues in Classic projects?

Tried the below bulk operation:

  1. Choose Edit issues and clicked Next.
  2. On the next screen, check Change Epic Link
  3. In the dropdown, or otherwise, there is no way to remove any assigned epic.

Screenshots below:

Any way out?

Hi John,

You were almost there! When you click on the selection for Change Epic Link like you have done (I see the green check mark) just leave the dropdown blank and select next. That should clear out the value of the Epic Link field for all of the items you had selected.

This didn't work for bulk editing / removing Epic from Scheduled Issues unfortunately.

Here's a workaround for epics in next-gen projects, where there is no option for selecting blank for the parent field.

  1. Create a dummy epic (e.g, "#deleteme").
  2. Use the bulk change feature from the advanced issue search to edit the affected child issues under the existing epic.
  3. Follow through with changing the parent value to the dummy epic.
  4. Delete the dummy epic.
