How do I add someone that was mentioned in a description, as watcher

Sofia Goncalves February 15, 2023 edited

When an issue is created (or edited) I would need for if someone is tagged /@mention in the Description for that person to be added automatically as a watcher.

I am not struggling w/ the automation itself, I am struggling w/ the smart values for this.

Any help is very much appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

Best, Sofia

That same question was asked about mentioning users in Comments and an answer suggested by @Bill Sheboy in this post:

You should be able to extrapolate from that for the Description field.

Hi @Trudy Claspill

I updated the post you linked to; it did not properly handle the case of multiple mentions in the same sentence/line of text, so I fixed it.

Kind regards,
Bill
