How do I add a worktype to a workflow?

There are two workflows under my Business Space in Jira. One is for larger tasks and the other for smaller subtasks. I am trying to create a new worktype that will have the workflow for larger tasks. But when I create a new worktype under my business space in Jira, it automatically gives it the workflow for subtasks, and there doesn't appear to be any way to change this in settings after it has been created.

Everything I've read online, as well as the built in AI, says to find the setting for Workflows in the left sidebar under the Space Settings, but it isn't there.

OK I was able to figure it out. When you save a workflow after making changes it asks you what work types you want it to apply to, so you can enter your recently created work type there and it will apply it. This is not particularly intuitive and not mentioned in white papers anywhere as far as I can tell.Screenshot 2025-11-12 120817.jpg
