Dear Atlassian Community!

I am Kristóf Herzsenáth project coordinator at United Consult Ltd (Account # ….). We are establishing our department level resource planning system in JIRA. However, we faced two major problems which is blocking us from the successful project. Related to JIRA and TEMPO add-on we would like to ask for your help in the following tasks:

  1. We have a reporting problem (Plan, Logged, Plan vs. Logged) in Tempo due to the generic resource option of JIRA. We would like to use the generic resource to indicate that a certain competency will be needed to allocate to a project w/o knowing the exact person (who do have JIRA licence). As the project progresses, we would re-allocate the working hours from the generic resource to the specific person who delivers the task. Unfortunately, generic resource cannot be reported in Tempo (Neither as plan nor as logged). Is there any workaround opportunity to get these reports or could you maybe give us actual accounts instead of generic resource so we can plan our resources more efficiently?

  1. We would like to plan and log working hours on an epic/task. If we plan a working hour in tempo on a specific task/epic, then move that task/epic in PLANNER, the planed working hours do not move. Can you give us some solution or another method to solve this (so that data would change dynamically)?

Thank you in advance we hope you know some kind of solution for this!

Hi @Herzsenáth Kristóf
I would recommend ActivityTimeline - the resource planning plugin that includes Planning view, Tracking view and Reporting. One of many report is "Planned vs Logged by Team" and "Planned vs Logged by Project".

Hello Kristóf

Did you find a solution for this?

I only see suggestions to install yet another plugin.

We are using Tempo and have now started to test the generic users. It looks very promising and the major gap is what you explained -> once you generate a report - the generic user is nowhere to be found.

A workaround I see is to create real users in Jira (for which you'll have to pay) but you use them only as a replacement for the generic accounts.

I would rather see a reply of the Tempo team ofcourse :-).

Hi,

I think the reporting problem can be resolved using the eazyBI app for Jira. If you use a custom field to indicate the competencies needed for specific issues, you can have a report in eazyBI of planned/actual hours by respective values of the custom field.

For instance, I planned time on issues with a custom field (T-shirt); I can have a report in eazyBI:
