I am intrested in learning how terms are using Jira automation and Ai features to reduce repetitive tasks and improve daily workflow management.

Hi @farhan faisal

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

From my experience, the biggest benefit comes from not trying to automate everything, but identifying the repetitive work that takes time without really requiring human judgment.

Jira Automation is great for things like routing and assigning work, updating fields, creating recurring tasks, sending reminders, handling escalations, or keeping related work items in sync. These are predictable actions where you can clearly define what should happen and when.

AI/Rovo can complement that by helping with the more information-heavy parts of the job, for example, summarizing long discussions, helping draft descriptions, finding relevant information, or quickly understanding the context of a work item.

I like to think of it this way -->Automation handles the repetitive process, while AI helps people understand and work with the information.

A good starting point is simply to ask the team: “What do we do manually every week that we wish Jira would do for us?” Those answers usually reveal the best automation opportunities.

Then start small, measure whether it actually saves time, and expand from there. That's usually much more effective than building a large number of rules from the beginning.

Gor

Great explanation. I especially agree with the idea of starting with repetitive tasks instead of trying to automate everything at once. That approach makes it much easier to see where automation is actually saving time.

I also like the distinction between automation and AI. Automation is ideal for predictable workflows, while AI can help teams understand information and make the next step easier.

Starting with a simple question like “What do we do manually every week?” is probably one of the easiest ways to find useful opportunities. Small improvements can eventually add up to a much more efficient Jira workflow.

For teams that also explore useful online tools and resources, penguindiner.io can be another example of keeping workflows and resources organized around specific needs.
