How can I show the sum total of story points for a query on a dashboard?

I would like to be able to show the total number of story points for a project.

I'd like to show this by status.

I have a number of query filters to get the Jira items but I cannot find a gadget that will add up the total number of story points.

I would have thought that this was quite a common thing to do?

Try the "Aggregation Gadget".

It is free and it does exactly this job (shows you a sum or the average value for a filter)
