When you create a Software project in Jira Cloud you’ll see Atlassian’s ready‑made templates (Scrum, Kanban, Bug tracking, etc.).

  1. Open Projects>Create project.
  2. Select Software development.
  3. Pick the template whose issue types and workflow suit your team.

This is perfect for starting from scratch, but what if you already have a “gold‑standard” project whose workflows or custom fields you want to reuse?

In that case, you can try our marketplace app Deep Clone for Jira. The app lets you turn any existing project into a reusable template in a few clicks:

  1. Create or clean up the project you’d like to use as a template (issue types, workflows, boards, permissions, etc.).
  2. Open Apps > Deep Clone > Project Clone.
  3. Select your template project
  4. Give the new project a key & name, hit Clone project, and Deep Clone copies:
    • Workflows & screens
    • Issue types
    • Boards (with Advanced Project Clone configured)
    • Optionally → all issues with comments, attachments, sprints, worklogs, status, and more

The result is an identical project that teams can start using right away.

Hi @Nisha Kanbi

You start out with a default, if you want to adjust this, this can be done after the project creation.

Then you can amend workflows, issue types/ work items, etc..

My suggestion is to use a company managed project.
