How can I merge 2 Jira projects without losing reports already recorded on any of them?
Hi Mike - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
What do you mean by merge 2 projects? Do you mean move all of the issues from one project into the other project?
If so, you can do a bulk change function from a filter to Move the issues from one project to another. It will change the key from the first project to the second. For example, first project is ABC and an issue is ABC-123. And you move to project DEF. The new issue key might be something like DEF-543. It will simply use the next number in the sequence that is available.
Then you can update your reports to use the new project key.
Yes, I meant to move all issues from one project to another.
For example, Project ABC moved to Project DEF, while retaining or not losing reports initially recorded for Project ABC e.g sprint velocity, burndown chart etc
How do I update the reports?

So, part of the issue with moving like that is that Sprints will be unique to that project. So you would need to create a Sprint name that is exactly the same in DEF as it was in ABC. Same with Components.

Hi John, I am from the Mike's team. Just wanted to let you know we have the same number of sprints on both the boards. So, we want to merge both the boards, but we are concerned that we could lose reporting like velocity, charts etc. Can you please confirm if I merge 2nd board into 1st board I would not lose the reporting and any other critical elements of the 2nd board?

No, I can't confirm that since I have never attempted to do that. If you are that concerned, I would leave them separate as they are and just work out of one project going forward.

Can you please test and confirm as you mentioned you will be testing? Please we need that confirmation from your end so that we can get the team's report right as 1 team is working on the 2 boards otherwise we won't get accurate reporting, so request you to do that.

You will need to do your own testing - this is not an issue that I have nor need. If you need more secure clarification you will need to open a support ticket with Atlassian.

Hi John, we were expectant of a positive feedback from you, after you mentioned yesterday that you would " test with a single issue first to see what that looks like".
In any case, I have tried opening a support ticket using the link you shared, but I was referred to the community or view documentation. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any relevant documentation.
Please, if you could share any relevant documentation or proceed with the test, we would really appreciate. Thanks

Meant if I were you I would test with a single issue first. Not me, I don't have the problem. ;-)
Are you on a Free plan? If not, your Jira administrator will need to open the support ticket.
