How can I make sure every new project use the same issue types, field configuration and screen

Desired outcome:

Every time I create a new Jira project, I want it to have the same (/default) workflow, custom fields and issue types that I've set for my other projects (please see below example of desired project set up):

Current situation:

Currently whenever a new Jira project is created, a new workflow, field configuration, and screen is created for it (please see attached current new project set up):

This means that I have to spend time manually reassigning workflows, screens etc. so that it matches my other projects.

Is there a way so that I can have all my future projects follow a specific workflow, field configuration and screen?

as @Trudy Claspill has said, on paid plan for company-managed projects there is a checkbox to create with shared settings, that makes new projects use the same basic configuration as existing ones, but on free plan that is not possible.

We've built an app, that is free under 10 users, that allows Jira free plan users to achieve what you are looking for. Project Templates for Jira

1. Create a custom project template based on the project you want to share the settings.

2. Because setting the permission scheme on free plan is not allowed, you have to make sure to delete the permission scheme in the template settings, so Jira will assign the default one.

3. Activate the custom template and you are good to go to create projects with shared settings on free plan.

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

If you were on a paid subscription then when you get to the final screen of the project creation process, where you enter the project name, you could choose the "Share configuration" option. That option is not available when you are on a free subscription.

On a free subscription you have to manually change the project to associate to it the schemes you created previously.

Hi @Trudy Claspill referring to your answer above, I need help for the same purpose.

Unfortunately, I was not aware of the usage of the checkbox "Share configuration" and without having it checked, I created 15 projects, and added different team-mates to them.

Now I want to have a common template like the same pipeline (In development, Development done, Ready for QA, Ready for UAT, Ready for Production) and I also want to have the same field set for all the projects I created.

Is there a way to achieve this without creating those projects again with that checkbox checked?

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

What are the Types of the 15 projects? That information can be found in the Type column on the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.

If any of them are Team Managed, the Team Managed projects all have their own independent configurations. Such projects can't share configurations. Each one has be be configured individually.

For Company Managed projects, if you are a Jira Administrator, then you can go to the Project Settings for each project and change which Schemes are associated to the project so that they all use the same Schemes, sharing a single configuration.
