How do I get the EPIC NAME on the ISSUE WINDOW (See screenshot)?
Do you mean the Epic Link? The new issue view is a bit of a challenge for sure. Go to project settings > issue layout. Edit the layout for the issuetype in question, it appears to be Task here. Check for available fields and drag over.
EPIC NAME or something similar isn't available, either as a SECONDARY FIELD or PREVIOUSLY REQUESTED FIELD.
When you click on VIEW ISSUE in an email notification, you don't have a clue what EPIC it belongs to. You shouldn't have to pad the Issue Name with the EPIC NAME just for usability.

Barry,
i'm not following completely. Let me try to assist further w/ some examples, etc.
I configured this to be in my detailed issue view in the manner I mentioned previously.
In your last comment you introduced the idea of the email notification. If you are trying to include the Epic in the email notification. TBH I have not looked into this. You might consider an addon such as Email This Issue, if indeed you are wanting the Epic included in the notification.

It's not within the EMAIL notification that I want this. When our users get an email notification of a new comment on an issue they are watching. They click on the VIEW ISSUE link, and are taken to a view which does not contain the EPIC NAME. four letters and a number is not something you can instantly translate to a real name.
I've just realised that I can hover over the EPIC LINK, which does reveal the EPIC NAME, but you should be able to have the actual EPIC NAME list in this view. Do you know how?

"Epic Name" belongs to the Epic issuetype only. What you can do, as I showed above, is to include the "Epic Link" and I expect that would meet the requirment. The "Epic Link" is not just some url it conveys in words what the epic is.
likely you already are familar but this is an interesting tutorial on Epics

That much is obvious. It's standard to provide fields from the Parent in Applications. Providing a 'random' code that you're unlikely to know what it refers to is a substantial gap. Providing the ability to hover over that code and get the full name is good, but they could have just added the name, as it's already available from the hover, it's a tiny extra step to put it on the page.
Thank you for your time.

Barry, i'm sorry if I was unable to help. I'm really trying to understand where i'm missing the mark TBH. I am always seeking to understand how others use Jira so I can pick up on new concepts or learn from my misunderstandings.
In my usage the Epic Link is not anything random at all. It contains the Epic Name defined in the Epic. For example here are a few Epic Links in my instance and these show up in the Epic Link field of each Story/Task w/in the Epic.

Cisco ONS 1510 Test Development
New Customer Portal
So restating my answer from earlier - if you want to display the name of the epic in the Story/Task view include the Epic Link field.

The Epic Link is already present but is just the random letters, here is an example:
SCDV-73 / SCDV-811
The 'SCDV' part is the code for the Project, under which there will be 20 EPICs (including SCDV-73). To find out that the epic it refers to is 'ACCOUNT' I have to hover over the link and wait for it to appear.
My issue is that 'ACCOUNT' should be displayed by default without needing to hover.
