How can I get release and sprint data for issues to be populated in Portfolio?

Thomas Vladeck August 19, 2019
  1. My team and I use portfolio to plan our sprints
  2. My team prefers to create issues in "traditional" JIRA to create issues versus Portfolio (creating issues in Portfolio is pretty rough, lots of horizontal scrolling, can't add descriptions, restricted to one row-line, can't easily click out to issue, etc. -- it's not good)
  3. When we create an issue, we often add in things that Portfolio would calculate — specifically the release and the sprint
  4. In Portfolio in the scope, the sprint and release show up as blank and you have to re-enter them for every issue you create

So, how can we avoid [4]? Specifically, if I create an issue in JIRA and assign it to a sprint and/or release, how can I get that to show up (automatically, without having to do things twice for every issue) in Portfolio?
