How can I delete the Completed Sprint values for stories?

Jonathan Harris May 18, 2020

I have a project with nearly 900 Closed/Completed issues.  Recently, when an issue is Completed within a Sprint, it automatically moves to the next Sprint even though it's been closed.  Then when I try to edit the Sprint field, I can edit the current Sprint, but it has a read-only Closed Sprints field.  I need to delete the old values in this box and have it reflect only the Sprint it was actually completed in.

This project has 4 Boards, and it appears that they use the same Sprint names across boards.  Not sure if that's relevant, but I'm inheriting this board and need to get it working.  I've seen in other posts here that a Bulk Import would work, but I cannot find a "Completed Sprints" field in the Jira issues extract, only a "Sprint" field with multiple Sprints listed.

Please let me know if more information is needed, and thanks in advance for your help!

Answer discovered from another source.

In the Jira Board, the "Done" column was not at the far right, this spot was held by a "Cancelled" column.  As such, Jira was not considered "Done/Closed/Resolved" issues as "Complete" and was automatically rolling forward the Closed issues.

I would look to the cause of why you're having to do this.

This is likely to be because the issue (and/or one or many of its subtasks) is not in the last column of the board when you end the sprint.  If they're not in the last column, they are not "done", so they should go into the next sprint by default.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm assisting a fellow Scrum Master with this, so I can't say for certain at the end of the last Sprint they were fully in the "Done" column.  But the titles were strike-through, indicating they were done.  No sub-tasks are being used, and from what I understand, there were some Open issues that were carried forward, but it also carried forward all the Completed/Resolved issues.

The read-only "Closed Sprints" field seems like it should be editable to correct for inaccurate Sprints and allow the user to set these values.  Is this caused by the issue being reflected on multiple boards?
