How can I create a status in a in a workflow that doesn't show in the board?

I want to add a "Won't Do" status in a workflow, but I don't want this status to show in the sprint board. Is there any way to do that? When I go to Board > Columns and statuses, I can delete the column but doesn't allow me to Save the changes. It flags the status as unassigned status. Any way I can do that?

Is this a Team-managed project? If so, there are different rules for the boards in those types of projects, and you probably will not be able to "hide" the status.

Right, it's a team-managed project and that seems to be the cause. Just wanted to get confirmation on that.

That should be okay with it being in unassigned status. The flag is to let you know that user won't be able to go to that status from the sprint board. This seems like the desire state you want.

Yes, it's fine if users cannot go to that status from the board. How can I set the status to do not show in the board?
