I'd like a filter that returns all cases whose parent is in a certain project, regardless of the project that the [child] case is associated with.

@Natalie Winburn

If you are using an issue type above Epic then just give a query: "Parent Link" = "parent_link_key"

If you the Epic is the [parent] of your description and you want to get the items below it, use the query: "Epic Link" = "epic_link_key"

This will output all [child] items from the associated key.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Natalie Winburn

I’m Maurício, a support engineer at Digital Toucan and I’m here to help you.

Unfortunately, using JQL of Jira, you can only get a list of parents’ children if you know the parent key. You can check a few apps in the marketplace that extend the search for you by clicking here.

In the app where my team works, JQL Search Extensions for Jira, you can use this query to find your parent’s issues in project X, regardless of the project that the child case is associated with.

issue in parentsOfIssuesInQuery("") and project = x

Please contact our support if you have any other questions about this query.

We’ll be happy to help you!
Best regards,
Maurício
