How can I convert my board to kanban?

Carlos Solorzano January 24, 2023

I have several Bitbucket repos. I have been converting from Bitbucket issues to Jira slowly over the years.

I just realized that all of my newer conversions from Bitbucket issues to Jira are Kanban boards, whereas my first one (done a while back) is not.

I would like to convert that first one so they don't look so different.

What are my options?

Thanks.

Hello @Carlos Solorzano

Are the issues in a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project? You can find that information on the View All Projects screen, or at the bottom of the navigation panel on the left when viewing the project information.

For a Company Managed project you can't "convert" a board. You simply create another board. Refer to

https://www.atlassian.com/agile/tutorials/creating-your-agile-board

If the project is a Team Managed project, then you can convert the board by going to Project Settings > Features, and turning off the Sprints feature.

Looks like they are company managed since I can see them all when I press view all projects.

I tried to create a board but if I select create from existing project, the one project that I need to select is not on the list. All the others are.

Is the project a Software, Service, or Business/Work Management project?

If you are viewing the project contents, look at the top of the left panel under the project name. It will say Software, Service, or not show anything. What does it say?

If it says nothing, then you are using a Business/Work Management project.

Can you also re-confirm if it is a Company Managed or Team Managed project? That will show at the bottom of the same left side panel.

It is a software project and it is a team managed project.

In that case you can go to Project Settings > Features and simply turn off the Sprints feature.

Ok, that worked, but I'm back to my original issue. I would like to be able to have more issue types when creating an issue. On my other projects I have several types like Story, Task, Bug, etc, whereas on this project I only have Story.

Thanks.

Since this is a Team Managed project you have the power to create additional issue types.

Refer to:

Ok, now I feel dumb. Didn't see that `add issue type` on the left side. Thanks.
