I am part of an open team in jira. I want to give this team access to my jira project.
Hello @mannat.dev
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Are these users already able to access your Jira instance? What happens when they try to access your project?
Do you have any level of Administrator access? Are you the Project Administrator for the project? Are you a Site Administrator, User Administrator, or Organization Administrator?
If you are a Project Administrator for the project, go to Project Settings and then select Access. Click the Add people button. Type in the name or email address of one of the people you want to add. If that person already has access to your Jira instance you should see a matching entry appear, and you can click on that entry to add the person to your project.
If there is no matching entry, then the user does not have access to your Jira instance, and the request to get them access will have to be escalated to a person who is a User Administrator, Site Administrator, or Organization Administrator.
Hey @Trudy Claspill ,
Thanks for the prompt response.
I have "Administrator" role in this Jira project. It's a private project. "Add People" only lets me add individual people using their email addresses, I wanted to add a whole group so that everyone who's part of the group could access my jira project.

Has that user group already been created for your Site? Only a Jira/Site Administrator would be able to create a user group for the Site. User Groups are managed at the Site level within the Organization. Your Jira/Site Administrators will need to manage the membership of the group.
Once your Jira/Site Administrator has created the group, then you should be able to search for it by name in the Add People dialog.

I can see the team (XYZ Squad) under Teams, but when I search for it in the Add People dialog, no results appear. Maybe because it only expects names or emails?

Oh, I see. You want to grant project access to a Team that is set up under the Teams menu.
I don't believe it is currently possible to assign a Team to a project role. Refer to this change request:
