When creating Automation Rules for my Project, how do I reference Issue fields that I created before?
The list only shows the pre-defined/standard issue fields and not the new ones I make.
Please help.
Hi @Olivier Mollies and welcome,
That's not true. You can edit custom fields you've created. Can you share your rule, or at least try to explain what are you trying to achieve?
Regards,
Alex
Sorry, I didn't mean edit the Custom Field I meant Reference it.
How do I reference it when creating an Automation Rule with the 'Issue Fields Condition' step?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
You mean like this?
All of the above are custom fields I've created.
Or you mean by using smart values? https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/what-are-smart-values/

Yes, exactly.
So, for me it's not like that at all so let me show you 2 screenshots

The left shows the Issue with custom field 'Reviewer' and the right shows the non-existence of said Field in the drop-down menu.

I wonder if we are dealing with a TMP-Automation limitation here. I see that Oliver is using TMP. I haven’t attempted in TMP myself.

@Jack BrickeyI confirm that what Olivier says is true. I can't see also the field I've created. However if you try the advance issue condition, then it works like a charm.

@Alex Koxaras -Relational- , one more thing actually. How would I then reference the same field in an action to modify that field?

@Olivier Molliesit would really help if you could be more precise on what you wanted to achieve. But if I guessed correctly, you would edit that issue (as an action) and then use the advanced section to edit the field, based on this documentation https://docs.automationforjira.com/smart-fields/advanced-fields.html

In addition to what Alex and Jack are suggesting...
Smart values are case-sensitive, so ensure that your value matches the capitalization of your custom field. When that still does not work, you may reference the field by its custom Field ID value. To find that, please use the information in this how-to article:

Best regards,
Bill
