I'm curious how other teams have customized Jira to work with Xray.

Some questions:

• How haave you customized the workflows for Test Cases, Test Executions, Test Plans, or other Xray issue types?

• Which statuses have worked well for your teams?

• Do you use Jira Automation with Xray?

• Have you automated status transitions, notifications, or other repetitive tasks?

• Are there any workflow customizations that have significantly improved your testing process?

I'd really appreciate learning from your experience before we start customizing our own workflows.

Teams commonly automate:

• Auto-transition Test Executions to Done when all linked tests pass
• Notifications to QA leads when a Test Execution fails
• Auto-linking Test Cases to Test Plans based on labels or components
• Blocking releases (via Jira automation + Xray status checks) if critical tests haven't passed

Workflow Improvements That Teams Report

• Adding a "Blocked" status to Test Executions to flag environment/dependency issues
• Using "Ready for Automation" as a status on manual Test Cases to signal handoff to automation engineers
• Requiring a reviewer approval transition before Test Cases move to Approved.
