Could you please advise how it is possible to hide or disable several sections within a task?

Specifically:

- Related Work
- Rovo Dev
- Development
- Automation

Hi there,

Jira’s issue view has become quite feature-rich recently, and I understand wanting to declutter the interface for your team. While you cannot "delete" these system sections entirely, you can manage their visibility using the following methods:

1. Collapse the Sections (Individual Level)
The simplest way to hide these is to click the small chevron (v) icon next to the section titles (Development, Related Work, etc.). Jira remembers your preference, so if you collapse them once, they should stay collapsed for you on other tasks until you click them again.

2. Issue Layout Settings (Admin Level)
If you want to hide these sections for the entire project, you can move them to the "Hide when empty" category:

Open any task in your project.

Click the three dots (...) in the top right corner and select Configure.

In the Issue Layout screen, you will see a list of fields and sections.

You can drag certain fields to the "Hide when empty" section on the right sidebar.

Note: Some system sections like "Development" are hard-coded and may only disappear if no tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, etc.) are connected.

3. Disabling Rovo specifically
Since Rovo is a newer AI feature, its presence is controlled via the Atlassian Administration settings. If your organization doesn't use Rovo, a Site Admin can disable it under Settings > Connected Apps or within the Atlassian Administration (admin.atlassian.com) under the "Rovo" tab.

4. Automation Section
The "Automation" section usually only appears if there are rules triggered or available for that issue. If you don't have active automations for that project, it typically stays hidden or minimized.

Pro-Tip: If you find the right-hand sidebar too busy, you can use the "Full screen" view of an issue, which sometimes helps in focusing on the description and comments rather than the metadata sections.

Hope this helps you get a cleaner view of your tasks!

Hi there,

Thank you for the screenshot! It clarifies exactly why you are stuck.

The screen you are looking at manages Fields (like Summary, Priority, Due Date), but sections like Development, Related Work, and Rovo are considered "System UI Fragments." These are handled differently than standard fields.

Here is why you aren't seeing them in that configuration list:

Global App Settings: Sections like Development only appear in the configuration if a developer tool (like GitHub or Bitbucket) is integrated with your Jira instance. If no tool is connected, the section is "hard-coded" to stay hidden or appear empty, but it often cannot be toggled from this specific "Work types" screen.

Contextual Visibility: Sections like Related Work and Automation are dynamic. They appear on the issue view only when there is data to show (e.g., if there are linked issues or active automations). Because they are dynamic, Jira doesn't always list them as "draggable" fields in the layout settings.

The "Global" vs "Project" Level: To truly disable Rovo or Automation visibility across the board, you usually need to go to Global Administration settings rather than the local "Space settings" you are currently in.

What you can try next:
Since you are the Administrator, try opening a live task (an actual issue), click the three dots (...) at the top right of that specific task, and select "Collapse all empty fields." This is often the only way to "clean up" those specific system sections that don't appear in the Layout editor.

If you are trying to remove Rovo specifically, you must ask a Site Admin to turn it off at the Atlassian Organization level (admin.atlassian.com), as it cannot be disabled project-by-project.

Does this help explain why they are missing from your current settings menu?
