The person who set up and created our Jira Boards for Payroll and HR, is no longe with the City.  We need/want to make changes to the titles and descriptions of several of the autogenerated checklist items that we use each pay period.  However, our team is not familiar enough with Jira to know how to make these adjustments.  Our IT team does have the same permissions as the person who left, and they believe they have provided me with those credentials as well.  I would appreciate any help that you could provide me/us.  Thank you.

Hi Susan,

Checkboxes are just a custom field type. So go to Settings (gear icon) > Work Items > Fields. Search for the field, then click the 3 dots menu to the far right and choose Context and Default Value. There you can change the Checkbox options.

Hi @Susan Forman ,

Those checklists usually come from one of two places, and figuring out which one you have is the whole trick. Once you know, the actual edit takes about a minute.

Open one of the recent issues and look at the checklist. If it has real checkboxes you can click and a progress bar, it's coming from a Marketplace app (something like Smart Checklist or Issue Checklist). The template lives in Project settings, under the app's own section. Just edit the template there and future issues will use the new wording.

If it's just a bulleted list in the description, then it's being created by an automation rule on a schedule. Go to Project settings and then Automation, find the rule with a "Scheduled" trigger, open it, and the text you want to change is inside the "Create issue" action. Edit, save, and the next run will use the new version.

Since your IT team has the same access as the person who left, sit with them for 5 minutes and check both spots. If you can come back and tell us which one it is (checkboxes or plain text), I can walk you through the exact clicks for your case.

Best,

Susan Forman

When I click on the Projects tab on the left side of the screen it opens a new tab but there isn't anything in it.  It wants me to create a project.  Maybe IT needs to do something else to get me access to the project settings.
