Help setting up auto-adjusting Finish to Start Dependencies

Ben Weisman

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to set up dynamic date calculations + Gantt views using a finish to start method.

Specifically, if I have 10 start to finish tickets, in order, and I want to move ticket 8 up in front of ticket 3, I want everything else to dynamically adjust in terms of dates.

Is this doable?

Are you using the Advanced Roadmaps feature of the Jira Premium subscription?

Are you using the dependencies functionality to indicate the finish to start relationships?

It is possible to automatically recalculate dates using Automation Rules. This post discusses that solution.

In your case the scenario is a bit more complex because it sounds like you don't want to just change the dates of one issue and have its dependents recalculate, but you also want to be able to change the sequence of the dependencies.

I understand there is an Auto Schedule feature in Advanced Roadmaps. I have not worked with AR very much at all, but that also might be an option for you. If you have questions about AR, there is a forum specifically for that which you may find useful.
