I use the "days in column" functionality frequently during my Daily Scrum/DSU with my teams. When the option is toggled to "on" under the Card Layout screen of Board Configuration it will show a number of dots on each of the issues on the Active Sprints board, the more dots on the card, the longer it has been in that status. This can lead to good discussions with my team, especially if issues that were estimated fairly small seem to be stuck in a single status for longer than we would have anticipated given the estimate.
I noticed today that the dots had disappeared on the issues on the Active Sprints scrum board. When I checked the board configuration I noticed that on 1 board it was toggled to "off", and that it could be toggled back to "on", however it did not actually make a change to the issues on the Active Sprints board and display the dots. When I went back to that same config screen the toggle was back to "off". This happened multiple times. I checked some of the other boards in the same project that I administer and they all had the toggle greyed out and not able to be changed with a link directing me to start using Jira Insights.
Insights isn't particularly useful to me as the configuration for the boards is based around a single shared sprint in a shared backlog which is then funneled into each team's specific board by the board filter. So the "insights" tab on the Active Sprints for each team board will show data for the entire sprint shared across 4 teams.
Has the "days in column" functionality been deprecated? If so, that is disappointing. Also, would you please update your documentation?
Earlier in the week, I saw a post from an Atlassian employee indicating this was a UX / feature experiment to disable the feature: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-questions/Re-Days-in-Column-Missing/qaq-p/3033172/comment-id/1127931#M1127931
I recommend asking your Jira Site Admin to submit a ticket to the support team to be removed from the experiment so the feature returns: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/
Kind regards,
Bill
Thanks @Bill Sheboy , this is super helpful. I'll reach out to my site admins to see if we can get that request in.
